On Thursday Recoleta Wine Gallery had the pleasure of sharing a tasting Monteviejo by Gustavo and Marcelo Paolucci Pelleritti.
In addition to good products that we are accustomed to the winery, and being good hosts Martin Buschi and Wine Gallery, I enjoyed one of the best performances you've seen by any winery. Marcelo
Pelleritti has the great virtue of being able to synthesize the wisdom, simplicity and science, said the most effective and honest as possible.
You can tell the passion for your product, efficiency in performance and clarity and modesty in the way it presents.
We had the opportunity to hear from both the accioenes carried out for the wines of Pomerol group.
One of the most notable addition to the efficiency of the job is seeing the family that owns putting passion in your work and earmarking a portion of production for the selection and harvesting of the grapes to work in a quiet part of the product, and as family tradition, for its internal use.
We talked about the presentation of Diamanda and Monteviejo La Violette, only when the winemaker considers the wine is at its best. Monteviejo La Violette has 36 months in barrels of first use and manual separation of the fruit.

I also had the pleasure of sharing the meeting and go with Horacio in all the above. Gratitude to both WG (especially Martin), for the excellent talk of Marcelo Pelleritti, counting not only their work in Monteviejo, but his experience in Pomerol.
With respect to new wine Monteviejo "La Violette", is also a special feature that the fermentation was done by placing the whole grapes into barrels, as with some wines in Pomerol. Interesting.

Thanks to Martin and the people of Monteviejo for such exquisite invitation that knew how to combine quality and warmth in exact proportions. Harold and I agree with the opinions Manu dunk and I can only comment on the interesting counterpoint that was generated about the Clos de los Siete Petite Fleur 07 and the same vintage, where the first surprise since he left for the "Ready" was to drink and the second presents more complexity and finesse, but needs more bottle to fully enjoy.
Greetings. Eduardo

born in 1777, a few years after the founding, in 1772, the house in the Champagne Clicquot.

The house was not the first that produced sparkling wines but it is one of the oldest. (The first house was that of Nicolas Ruinart, founded in 1729 and born as a response to growing demand in court and the big bourgeoisie Parisian and London, the first two markets of champagne.)
Philippe Clicquot, the founder, had a son, Francois, who married Nicole Barbe Ponsardin in 1799. The marriage took place in the warehouse, 20 meters underground in the caves. Not for fanaticism, but actually got married there because, during the war, the churches were closed.
Five years later, Francois contracted yellow fever and died, leaving widow Nicole. Philippe Clicquot, hurt by the fact, decided to close the winery.
Madame Clicquot, against the wishes of the family, insisted until he could take over the House Clicquot. No muujer
took care of business, and nobody believed he could succeed, but time showed that it did.
Launched in 1972, La Grande Dame was established in honor of Madame Clicquot, "La Grande Dame Champagne, and to celebrate the bicentennial of the house Veuve Clicquot . The decision to make this famous cuvée born in 1962, eight Grands Crus (Verzenay, Verzy, Ambonnay, Bouzy, Aÿ, Avize, Oger and Le Mesnil - sur Oger).
These were chosen from among the vineyards originally purchased by Madame Clicquot.
Although there was no classification system at the time, currently set at 100% is classified in the "Echelle of Crus. " Further evidence of the impeccable instincts of Madame Clicquot.
This blend made only in exceptional vintage years, aged in bottle for six years.
The 1990 harvest breaks the statistics and records of La Champagne, since it was the 3rd consecutive crop, ranked as excellent.
The mixture of this coasecha 1990 was made from 61% Pinot Noir from the Grands Crus de Ay ( Grande Vallée de la Marne ) and Verzenay , Verzy , Ambonnay and Bouzy (Montagne de Reims ) and as 39% Chardonnay from the Grands Crus de Avize , Oger and Le Mesnil - sur Oger (Côte des Blancs )
The Chardonnay was harvested the second week of September, and a week later, the inks were harvested Pinot Noir, so abtenerse 10.5 ° grams per liter of sugar, and acidity of 8 grams / liter.

Another of his major achievements was to initiate the export
wines of Champagne.
It happened like this: because of the British blockade had sold out of champagne in Russia, when the blockade was lifted on traveling the widow came to the land of the Tsars with a boatload of Champagne, just in time when the Czar was celebrating the birth of a child, which was celebrated with Veuve Clicquot. He was nicknamed
Clicvske and from then on was the favorite in Russia, where he had a large share of the market until the Bolshevik revolution.
Subsequently, the export of Veuve Clicquot was extended to all markets.
When the widow took over the winery he was just 27 years old. Fifteen years later he put labels on the bottles. Sell \u200b\u200b
at that time was very difficult. The salesman of Veuve Clicquot realized that all houses of St. Petersburg were yellow. So La Grande Dame Champagne, asked them to do to honor the yellow tags, significantly increasing sales.
Today the yellow label is one of the most distinctive in the world.

vanilla appears a little behind, which shows good amalgam between fruit and wood. Cabernet Sauvignon
An Old World style, but it will never be explained from the 2006 vintage.

Undoubtedly, the wine of the night.
1865 Cabernet Sauvignon 2001 (U $ s20)
Viña San Pedro - Valle del Maipo, Chile Deep red

Already some time ago, we tried a merlot's with two of the participants of the next tasting, and it went pretty well.
The honoree, Chile the declared lover's cabernet was in the first stage, a spectator, and then begin to loosen up, and talk about wine with great ease.
Our host, received us at the table with: shrimp, mussels, brie cheese, Reggianito, white with green onion, salami, dry sausage made in canes, focaccia and rolls with sesame surprise (stuffed with sun dried tomatoes made by our Rosa friend!) and various other delicacies.

intense, clear and bright, intense gold flash.
In the first nose appeared a stale note. Soapy water. The foam was not going ...

Franco and evolved. Very short on the palate, fresh.
also because at his age, one might expect a lot less. Linda
experience.
already starting with the Cabernets

Juanico
Guinda, with hints of cherries. Brilliant but shallow. Shows evolved. The nose poke
easily cooked fruits such as cherries and raspberries. Behind
appear where spicy aromas highlighted pepper. Soon, an anise note makes it more interesting.
The palate is frank, good acidity and round tannins. Very nice, long and easy to drink.
vanilla appears a little behind, which shows good amalgam between fruit and wood. Cabernet Sauvignon
An Old World style, but it will never be explained from the 2006 vintage.

House-Bodega Filgueira - Green Blade, Canelones
A view is a deep mahogany red, flashing tile, a marked evolution.

dark aromas of dry, roasted coffee (sweet) and jams more like cherries and plums.
has a light mouth with round tannins for their age, they seem sweet, and are extremely Dosil.
has good acidity, it is drinkable and has a very interesting earthy final.
Wood practically not noticeable (12 months first-use French oak) so I consider it very balanced.
The finish is long and keep all the flavors and aromas, but excel aromas of earth.

Viña San Pedro - Valle del Maipo, Chile Deep red
like cherry, mahogany flashing.
The nose menthol aromas typical. Subtle spicy, and ports.
The mouth is an attack medium, tannins, frank and balanced.
The finish is medium, but does not decay any aroma.
Nobody would have thought that the 2001 harvest was, above all, by the vivacity of the tannins.
